Contractors Can Improve Your Home

Hello! I would like to give you the warmest welcome to my blog. My name is Pete and last year, I decided to carry out some home improvements. Somewhat foolishly, I decided to try and carry out the work myself. As you can imagine, it was a bit of a disaster as I do not have many skills. Thankfully, I have a friend who works in the construction and contracting service. He called in some of his friends who were able to come in and fix up the mess I had made. I am really pleased with the results so I thought I would write about it here.

Farm Sheds – Why Aluminium Trumps Timber

by Regina Barnett

Typically, when homeowners need some extra storage space on their property, they will automatically opt to stash their belongings in the garage. This solution may seem convenient, but all you are doing is creating clutter in a space that can be used as a living area in addition to sheltering your vehicle. A better alternative to your problem would be constructing a farm shed. However, deciding on which material to use can also be a daunting task. Timber may be the traditional option, but it certainly is not the only alternative. Below are a few of the reasons why an aluminium farm shed trumps utilising timber for your storage space.

Aluminium farm sheds are affordable

No matter what your budget may be, cost cutting is something most homeowners would prefer. Thus, metal is a better alternative to timber as it is a cheaper building supply. Natural lumber is not only costly to source but since it is also heavy, it can be expensive to transport too. Aluminium is a metal that is both lightweight and readily available, making it a cheaper option for your farm shed.

Aluminium farm sheds are easily installed

A second prominent reason why a metal shed is a better option than a timber one is the ease of installation that metallic materials offer. Aluminium sheds are usually prefabricated. Therefore, all you would have to do is make your purchase, and a flat pack is delivered to your site ready for assembly. You then have the option of hiring professional contractors to put the shed up for you or choose to embark on the installation as a DIY project. Timber sheds, on the other hand, have to be constructed from scratch. Not only does it take longer since the raw materials have to be prepped on site, but the contractors will have to put together every single bit of the shed one piece at a time.

Aluminium sheds are astoundingly durable

When people think of metal, the primary form of damage they envision is corrosion. Although ferrous metals such as iron are highly vulnerable to this, aluminium is one of the rust-resistant metals that you could choose. Therefore, you would not have to worry about premature degradation caused by exposure to humidity, precipitation and other forms of moisture. Moreover, aluminium sheds are fire resistant too! With a timber shed, you will have to be wary of pest infestations, mould, rot and other structural issues that can sacrifice the integrity of your storage space.
